Patios in Poole, Bournemouth & Christchurch
Porcelain, sandstone and natural stone patios — dug out, drained and laid on a proper sub-base, with edges and falls that keep them flat and dry.
01
A patio is groundwork first, paving second
The part you see is the last thing that happens. What decides whether a patio is still flat in ten years is underneath it: the depth it was dug to, the sub-base it sits on, and whether the falls actually carry water away from the house rather than towards it. We build that properly, then lay the stone.
02
Porcelain, sandstone, or something in between
Porcelain is dimensionally consistent, holds its colour and cleans easily, which is why so many of our recent patios use it. Riven sandstone gives a softer, more traditional look that suits an older house. We will walk you through what each costs to buy, to lay and to live with, and give you an honest recommendation for your garden rather than the one that suits us.
03
Finished at the edges
Most of the difference between a good patio and an ordinary one is at the perimeter — the cuts against the house, the step down to the lawn, the border course, the sleeper planters holding a bank back. That detailing is where we spend the time, because it is what you look at every day.
